One of the key capabilities an architect needs to successfully ride the architect elevator up and down is the ability to convey concepts at different levels of abstraction. Sadly, too often bringing things to a higher level is seen as losing detail and “dumbing things down” for a management audience. The architect elevator isn’t about dumbing things down; it’s about raising the level of abstraction. That’s an important difference.
